Hybrid Fleet Vehicles In order to reduce greenhouse gases, the Port purchases new hybrids when replacing fleet pool vehicles. Employees depend heavily on the Port’s vehicle fleet — whether for driving to the terminals, a meeting in Salem, or a customer reception in Pasco, a lot of ground is covered during the average business day. Having hybrids in the fleet saves fuel and money. The fleet pool includes three new Ford Escape hybrids, two Toyota Prius hybrids, and one Honda Civic hybrid. Additionally, the aviation and marine operating areas have several vehicles, including all the PDX shuttle buses, that operate on compressed natural gas, a lower-carbon fuel. There are still many nonhybrid vehicles in service at the Port, but as they reach the end of their service life, new, more fuel-efficient options will take their place. Contact: Learn More:
