PDX Oregon Market Celebrates 20th Anniversary

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PORTLAND, ORE. (Oct. 20, 2008) – Portland International Airport Oregon Market Celebrates 20th Anniversary

Tribute to Award-Winning Concept, Shops & Restaurants

Includes Party, Oregon Bounty Prizes & Specials for Travelers

Port of Portland is celebrating the milestone 20th anniversary of Portland International Airport’s Oregon Market with two weeks of festivities thanking travelers and saluting airport businesses.

Oregon Market, the central retail and restaurant core of the airport, has served travelers since 1988 and garnered numerous industry awards. The celebration kicked off this morning with refreshments for travelers and runs through Nov. 3.

To celebrate, Port of Portland is teaming up with Travel Oregon and featuring its statewide initiative, Oregon Bounty, which highlights the bounty of great local and regional products you’ll find throughout the state and in PDX. Travel Oregon is sponsoring a drawing for an Oregon vacation getaway at bed and breakfasts and lodges on the Oregon coast and in southern Oregon (see details at www.pdx.com). The celebration also includes entertainment, food and beverage tastings, demonstrations, displays, special menus and promotions.

“We appreciate all of the great businesses in the airport and our customers for making the Oregon Market concept such a success,” said Mary Maxwell, Port of Portland aviation director. “Thanks also to Travel Oregon for helping us celebrate, and for plans to open a new welcome center in PDX early next year.”

“We’re thrilled to work with the Port in creating an authentic Oregon experience at PDX, where many visitors form their first impression of our state,” said Todd Davidson, CEO of Travel Oregon. “The Oregon Market communicates the style and substance of Oregon Bounty. And the new visitor center, with its distinctly Oregon aesthetic, will give visitors an opportunity to expand their Oregon experience in travels throughout the state.”

For two decades, the stores and restaurants in the Oregon Market have been a flagship of the airport concessions industry – not to mention a great place for travelers to shop and eat. The successful concessions concept is based on:

• a preference for local businesses with a track record

• products with a Northwest flavor

• street pricing (no higher than the tenants’ other locations in town)

• a comfortable and engaging atmosphere

• exceptional customer service

A complete list of shops and restaurants found in the Oregon Market and throughout the airport is available at www.pdx.com
