PDX Citizen Noise Advisory Committee Meets Nov. 12
CALENDAR NOTICE
PORTLAND, ORE.
(Nov. 5, 2009) – PDX Citizen Noise Advisory Committee Meets Nov. 12
Portland
International Airport Citizen Noise Advisory Committee will meet from 6-8 p.m.
Thursday, Nov. 12 in St. Helens Conference Room B at the airport at 7000 NE
Airport Way. The community is invited and public comment is welcome.
The
meeting will include discussion of the 2009 noise exposure map update, which
will illustrate the noise levels associated with airport operations. Also on
the agenda is an initial briefing on plans to develop a working group to
explore programs to reduce PDX aircraft noise impacts beyond the 65 decibel
average day/night sound level, as part of the Airport Futures process. The
committee will also get an update on the PDX Fly Quiet program, and discuss the
committee charter.
The
committee is the Port of Portland’s official forum for working with the public
on issues related to aircraft noise. Committee representatives are from
northwest Oregon and southwest Washington. Eleven members are appointed by
various city and county jurisdictions, and four representatives are appointed
by the Port in an effort to maintain geographic diversity on the committee.
Technical assistance is provided by the FAA and the Oregon Air National Guard.
Committee
meetings are open to the public and include time for public comment. For more
information or directions to the meeting, please contact Debbie Bishop (503)
460-4543, or the Port noise management hotline (503) 460-4100 or (800)
938-6647. People with special needs who plan to attend the meeting are asked to
contact the Port for accommodations at (503) 460-4543.
