HAIR Meeting August 5

CALENDAR NOTICE

PORTLAND, ORE. (July 31, 2009) – Hillsboro Airport Issues Roundtable Meets August 5

The Hillsboro Airport Issues Roundtable meets Wednesday, August 5, from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Civic Center at 150 E. Main Street in Hillsboro. The public is encouraged to attend the meeting, and public comment is welcome.

The meeting agenda includes an update on progress of recommendations from HAIR on land use around the airport; the recommendations have been reviewed by the Hillsboro Planning Commission and are currently being considered by Hillsboro City Council. The roundtable will also discuss the status of the environmental study of a proposed new parallel runway at Hillsboro Airport and a partnership between the Port and other public agencies on planned mitigation for airport construction projects.

The City of Hillsboro donates space for the meetings in its downtown Civic Center. Free parking is available, and the site is accessible by the TriMet MAX Blue Line at the Hatfield Government Center station.

Hillsboro Airport has more than 200,000 operations annually and supports jet, propeller aircraft, and helicopter operations. HAIR is the official forum for discussions about operational issues related to the airport.

Established in 1891 by the Oregon legislature, the Port today owns four marine terminals, three airports (Portland International, Hillsboro and Troutdale) and four business parks. The mission of the Port is to enhance the region’s economy and quality of life by providing efficient cargo and air passenger access to regional, national and global markets.
