PORTLAND, ORE. (Oct. 2, 2013) – Hillsboro Airport 13th Annual Air Fair October 12

The Port of Portland invites the community to experience the wonder of aviation at 13th annual Hillsboro Airport Air Fair. Learn about Oregon’s second busiest airport during the event from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12.

This free, family-friendly affair offers an opportunity to take a behind-the-scenes tour of the airport, test one’s flying skills on a flight simulator, and see actual aircraft up-close. Lunch is available for purchase from the Port’s newest partner at the Burgerville Nomad. This year's event features a special Air Fair deal: take a ride on a plane or helicopter for $39 (number of rides limited; available on a first-come, first-served basis). Fairgoers will also have a chance to win a free one-hour scenic flight.

Attendees can learn how the Hillsboro Airport, in its 85 years of public use, plays a critical role in the local economy and aviation needs. Owned and operated by the Port, the airport supports business and recreational flying, flight training, aircraft maintenance, air ambulance service, and aircraft fueling and storage.

Hillsboro Airport is located at 3355 NE Cornell Rd. Entrance to the event is located on Cornell Road, where parking is available; or take the MAX Blue Line to the Fair Complex/Hillsboro Airport station. The airport is ADA accessible. For more information, contact Jayson Shanafelt, 503.415.6585 or
