The Art Program’s Mission is to provide a portal into the dynamic cultural life of our region. Through ongoing relationships with professional artists, arts organizations, art museums and educational institutions, the Port provides a showcase for work that reflects the values of the Port and the region we serve.
Rotating Exhibits: PDX features three rotating exhibits that run in six-month cycles and one that changes annually. Regional artists are invited to submit digital images of their work for consideration in future exhibits. Acceptance or review of materials does not guarantee an offer to exhibit.
Temporary Installations: PDX features two temporary site-specific installations that run in one year cycles. Regional artists are invited to submit digital images of their work for consideration. Artists selected to exhibit are required to create site-specific proposals for final approval. Acceptance or review of materials does not guarantee an offer to exhibit.
Exhibit Submissions: The Port maintains an open call for exhibit proposals for the temporary and site-specific installations. Submissions should be directed to the Art Program Administrator, firstname.lastname@example.org
Exhibit Requirements/Public Art Content Guidelines:
Work chosen for exhibit at PDX will be selected by the Art Program Administrator in accordance with the following criteria:
- Work should be conceived with sensitive regard to airport customer comfort and the principal purpose of the site as a transportation corridor for a diverse traveling public.
- Exhibited work must be of an excellent aesthetic standard, demonstrating mastery of materials and technique. Artists chosen for rotating and temporary exhibits are representatives of the regional fine art community, producing innovative concepts for public consideration.
- Exhibits must be physically suited to the space, allowing uninterrupted traffic flow in the terminal, hallways and other pedestrian areas.
- Exhibitors must be willing to sign the exhibitor's agreement, hold harmless agreements, and provide insurance as required.
Exhibits featuring work specifically designed and fabricated for installation at PDX are provided a small honorarium not to exceed $1500.
PDX’s Entertainment Program, through the use of music, works to create an environment that is relaxing, pleasing and stress-free for travelers. As a part of the PDX family, entertainers help the airport build customer loyalty through positive, personal interactions with passengers.
Every season includes a variety of live music performances; presenting the best local jazz, classical and contemporary artists, mixed with new and innovative styles and approaches. Whether traveling to or from PDX, or stopping to dine or shop, the airport invites visitors to pause awhile and enjoy its diverse selection of musical entertainment.
