A new concession planned for the airport could remedy a stressful day for passengers and airport employees alike. The Dragontree, a holistic day spa, will open for business this winter on the C Concourse, midway between the two food courts.
The spa will offer seated and full-body massages, foot care and facials – all at the same prices it charges at its northwest Portland facility. Other beauty and health-related services may be added in the future. In addition, the company will sell products geared to relaxation and wellness, such as creams and lotions, herbs and supplements, and cosmetics and candles.
“We wanted to create a uniquely local experience for the PDX traveler,” said Chris Madsen, general manager of business and properties with the Port of Portland, “and this very popular local operation more than fills the bill. For an airport setting, it’s a ‘beyond the expected’ offering, and it’s just the kind of business we want to bring to PDX.”
Annual VIP luncheon honors airport volunteers

VIPs J.C. Hinton, Paul Hjort and Bill Fegles with volunteer program coordinator Cynthia Saxton. In October, the airport said, “Thank You!” to its legions of volunteers – those folks in blue who know everything there is to know about PDX, and who spent about 13,000 hours helping some 175,000 travelers during the last year. VIPs answer a myriad of questions; they also help with events ranging from airline new service launches to convention group arrivals; and some speak second languages and assist international travelers. |
