Tuesday, March 24 - 11:45 a.m.
Due to the State of Hawaii’s quarantine order effective March 26, Hawaiian Airlines is suspending service between the islands and the mainland. The last flight from PDX to Maui will be March 25 and the last flight to Honolulu will be March 26.
The Customs and Border Protection Trusted Traveler Enrollment Center at PDX has suspended operations until at least May 1, 2020.
Friday, March 20 - 11:30 a.m.
The airport’s Gold Key Valet is temporarily suspending service at PDX effective tonight, March 20. In addition, the Red Economy Lot is closed; the Blue Economy Lot is still open as are the airport’s short-term and long-term parking garages.
The Transportation Security Administration team at PDX will be consolidating all screening operations to the D/E checkpoint beginning Sunday, March 22. The exit lanes on the D/E and B/C concourses will remain open. TSA has adequate staffing levels to maintain full operations; this change is in response to passenger volumes and in consideration of the ongoing health safety of travelers and TSA officers.
Delta Air Lines advised they will be closing their Sky Club Lounge at PDX at the end of the day’s operation on Sunday, March 22.
Due to the restrictions at the U.S./Canadian border, WestJet is suspending flights from PDX for 30 days beginning March 22. Similarly, Air Canada is suspending flights from PDX between March 23 to April 30.
Wednesday, March 18 - 11:30 a.m.
The airport remains open and operational.
Airlines continue to adjust their schedules in response to COVID-19. We understand call wait times are long; your airline is your best resource to discuss flight details. You can check flight status here before heading to the airport to catch your flight.
Governor Brown’s announcement restricting food and beverage operations in Oregon on March 17 does impact the sit-down restaurants at PDX. Airport counter-service restaurants, grab-and-go services and coffee stands are considered takeout and are operating as such.
At PDX we have updated the seating arrangement in the food courts and public areas of Concourses C and D to promote social distancing, following recommended public health guidelines.
To date, there are a total of 10 temporary closures of shops and restaurants at PDX. The list includes: cc McKenzie, Columbia Sportswear, The Dragontree Spa, Hopworks, Jackson Shoe Shine, Nike, Pendleton, Powell’s Books, Tender Loving Empire, and Travelex.
The children’s play areas at the airport will be closed starting today, March 18.
PDX Landside Operations has added shuttle buses in the airport employee parking lot. More buses will run more frequently during peak times. Drivers are advising passengers boarding the buses to use social distancing and noting there is a second bus close behind to help encourage healthy distances between people.
Portland Airport Fire Fighters are the medical first responders at PDX. In accordance with Multnomah County Public Health guidance, airport firefighters are required to respond to all medical calls wearing increased levels of personal protective equipment.
Monday, March 16 - 11:30 a.m.
Several businesses operating at PDX have followed the lead of their city-store counterparts and are temporarily closing their airport stores. These include: Nike, Columbia Sportswear, Powell’s Books and Dragontree Spa.
The PDX Conference Center is temporarily suspending operations effective tomorrow, March 17.
The ongoing changes with airline flight schedules and passengers’ travel behaviors continue to impact airport operations. Parking transactions system-wide decreased nearly 22% for the week of March 8.
Friday, March 13 - 1:15 p.m.
Following the President’s directive banning travel between Europe and the United States on Wednesday, Delta Air Lines announced that they will be temporarily suspending their flight between Portland and Amsterdam after today.
We don’t believe the new rules to slow the spread of COVID-19 from Oregon Governor Kate Brown impact travelers who need to fly through PDX. The Governor’s directions relate to gathering for planned events and activities, and exclude spaces where people gather for business (such as PDX).
The USO announced a temporary closure of their facilities across the nation, including the one at PDX.
At PDX, we continue enhanced cleaning efforts throughout the airport terminal. And, we continue encouraging travelers and airport employees to follow public health best practices. We are committed to supporting our airport tenants and their businesses as we all face the impacts COVID-19 is having on our community and industry.
Starting Monday, March 16, the Port of Portland will implement telework for our Port administrative employees who do not need to conduct their work in person. Like many area businesses, we are following state and public health guidance on social distancing and public gatherings.
Wednesday, March 11 - 1:00 p.m.
We continue to see impacts to flight schedules. Today, Delta Air Lines announced further reductions to their transpacific flight schedule. Portland’s nonstop flight to Tokyo has been suspended through May 31.
The changing airline flight schedules and passengers’ travel behaviors are impacting airport operations, too. Over the course of the past week, we’ve seen system-wide parking transactions decrease by 14%.
Monday, March 9 - 11:30 a.m.
The Oregon Health Authority announced seven new cases of COVID-19 over the weekend. This brings the total number of cases in Oregon to 14. Governor Kate Brown declared a state of emergency to bring additional resources to the state’s response, while the Port continues enhanced cleaning at PDX and our marine facilities.
We continue to see changes to domestic flights as airlines adjust their schedules for the spring and summer. Sun Country Airlines announced it will cut its service for the summer from PDX to Honolulu, Las Vegas and San Francisco. It will continue to serve Portland routes to Minneapolis-St Paul, Nashville, Madison, Wis., and St. Louis.
Friday, March 6 - 11:30 a.m.
United Airlines advised they will be reducing their schedule at PDX beginning April 1. They will be dropping from a planned 20 daily departures to 16 daily departures.
Starbucks corporate announced they will serve coffee only in their own single-use cups to help stop the spread of germs. This applies to the PDX Starbucks locations as well; customers traveling with their re-usable mugs will still receive the re-usable cup discount if they show their cup when ordering.
Wednesday, March 4 - 11:30 a.m.
This morning, Delta Air Lines shared a press release detailing a reduction in their Japan flight schedule due to COVID-19. Portland’s nonstop flight to Tokyo will operate three-times weekly rather than daily.
The Port of Portland is enhancing cleaning frequency at its marine facilities and communicating these efforts to the tenants.

PDX continues to be focused on efforts to deter transmission of the COVID-19 virus at the airport.
Enhanced cleaning continues throughout the PDX terminal and the ground transportation system.
Monday, March 2 - 11:30 a.m.
On Sunday morning, March 1, the Port started proactive and precautionary measures at PDX and increased the frequency of cleaning in the terminal.
In addition, the Port has directed increased cleaning of the airport’s parking pay stations, shuttle buses, valet booth and information booths.
As well, the Port is providing hand sanitizer in the taxi and rideshare hold lot for our ground transportation providers.
Many airport tenants have also increased surface cleaning of their space and provided hand sanitizer for their staff and their customers, in addition to encouraging best practices consistent with public health guidelines.
Sunday, March 1 - 11:30 a.m.
The first case of coronavirus COVID-19 appeared in Oregon on Friday, Feb. 28.
PDX is monitoring the situation and remains in continued contact with our public health partners, including Oregon Health Authority, Multnomah County, and the Centers for Disease Control.
Airport management continues to develop contingency plans and identify best practices, both proactive and reactive, in the case that someone at or connected to the airport eventually contracts the virus.
We are following the cleaning and disinfection protocols from Multnomah County and the CDC and taking preventative precautions including additional frequencies of cleaning high-touch surfaces.
Travelers and employees can best support these proactive efforts by washing hands frequently, covering mouths when coughing or sneezing and following other public health guidelines.
