BNSF Rail Shuttle

Shippers can now move their product on a rail shuttle from Terminal 6 to the Puget Sound ports.

Rail Operations Schedule (“work” days):

  • Monday – Tacoma Load (Cut-off Friday)
  • Tuesday – No rail Operation
  • Wednesday – Optional
  • Thursday – Optional
  • Friday – Seattle Load (Cut-off Thursday)

Cargo Availability:

  • Import cargo available day of discharge at 1400
  • Pickup numbers must be provided to release container
    • Pickup numbers provided by ocean carrier
  • Container lookup

Free Time:

  • Terminal 6 provides 5 free working days for container storage
    • Check with ocean carrier for demurrage
  • First free day starts at 0800 the following work day after container is discharged from train


  • LOAD’s: Please provide booking number to in-gate container(s)
  • EMPTY’s: Rail billing must be in place to in-gate container(s)
